Richard Couture will take us back to 1989 when “Jackknife” was filmed in Meriden, a moment in time when actors Robert DeNiro, Ed Harris and Kathy Baker, among others, were walking or driving our streets on the filming set and getting to know local residents while off-set. Mr. Couture, a Vietnam veteran, was invited to play an extra in the film along with other local vets. “Jackknife” is about a Vietnam veteran nicknamed “Megs” (DeNiro) who visits war buddy Dave (Ed Harris) at his home in Connecticut (Lindsley Avenue, Meriden). Dave has given up on life since the war (PTSD) and his school-teacher sister has denied herself a life of her own in tending to her brother in the family home.
